Honorable Mention Title:Happiness The image forms part of a broader project, Nimbin Soul, which looks at recording the faces of a small town in Northern NSW in Australia. I spent countless hours recording more than a 100 faces of locals, and tourists and travellers that come to the town in a sort of 'hippie' pilgrimage. The town is called Nimbin and after the 1973 Aquarius festival it became famous as a site of alternate living. It prides itself on being an open-minded, community orientated town that looks to challenge the conventions of modern living. This includes birthing classes, permaculture, medicinal cannabis, arts and culture, sustainable living, and a broader scope on education. The town also developed an infamous reputation in the media as it's fight to legalise marijuana was met with skeptical, curious interest from Australian media. This fight has seen some sort of victory with the recent legalisation of medical marijuana in Australia. Each and every person living in Nimbin has a unique story. It is this that I wanted to capture. Pictured together the images tell their story.
