Title:Lhasa's Drepung Monastery Marks 600th Anniversary by Purbu Zhaxi (Xinhua) A ceremony is held to mark the 600th anniversary of the founding of the Drepung Monastery in Lhasa in Tibet. Built in 1416 on the outskirts of Lhasa, the Drepung Monastery is the largest monastery of the Gelug Sect, of Tibetan Buddhism, its most influential figure is the Dalai Lama.
