He passed me by. He looked like one of the ' Zaaier' paintings off my fellow countryman Van Gogh, but different. I stepped out of the car, took the picture, while he walked on.

Biography: At first glance, the people that inhabit my panoramas of (mostly Dutch) landscapes seem to be at the mercy of their surroundings. But if you look more carefully you can see a more complex relationship, as the landscape responses to its inhabitants. You may see the displays of nature as a reflection of the inner turmoil’s of these people. Or maybe it is the other way around. Anyway, one can’t do without the other. I tell about myths and chance encounters, in a language between fantasy and reality. Space, and the experience of space, are constant factors.
