Biography:
In 1972, Loren Nelson picked up a Deardorff 4X5 view camera and began photographing the Pacific Northwest. For over 40 years he has photographed with film and used a traditional darkroom to produce selenium-toned silver gelatin prints. But recently, he has also included a digital workflow, using a digital camera and an iPhone to respond more spontaneously to his surroundings. He prints his images on fine-art papers, using archival pigment inks, along with his darkroom work. Ongoing bodies of work include landscapes, seascapes, and botanicals.
