Title:Kamchatka Peninsula Volcanoes, 3/9/11, #2
This image was taken from United Airlines flight 837 going from San Francisco to Narita, Japan on 3/9/11. Two days later, I was trapped for 16 hours on a train in Japan as a result of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake- it was also reported that some of volcanoes on the Kamchatka Peninsula erupted as a result of the seismic activity in Japan

Biography:
Laura Oliphant has been photographing since she was 10 years old, first with an old brownie camera, then with a film SLR. In the late 90′s, she was visiting Nikon as part of her work as an engineer and was fortunate enough to be given a personalized tour of the Nikon digital camera factory in Sendai, which was recently affected by the earthquake. Ever since then, she has shot with Nikon cameras, first with the D70, and currently with a D300. Laura’s has won many prizes at the Alameda County Fair, and has also had many photos published in local newspapers and in journals. She... |
