Title:A child’s game in Uganda
The Nile River lakes, streams and channels have allowed for relative prosperity of local people. The addition of modern infrastructure – bridges, roads, railroads and such – provide new challenges for competitive boys as well as for traditional, formerly isolated communities. This photograph was taken on a documentary expedition for No Water No Life to the Nile River Basin to study the watershed’s ecosystems, threats to quality, availability and usage of its water supply and management of this precious natural resource.

Biography: Alison M. Jones is a conservation photographer who has documented sub-Sahara Africa since 1985. Seeing that rivers and lakeshores are the continent's ribbons of life, she founded NO WATER NO LIFE. This nonprofit combines photography and science to publicize the vulnerability of the planet's freshwater resources. Her work is seen in magazines, books, TV and is used in her workshops, lectures and exhibits. Granted an honorary Masters Degree in Photography from Brooks Institute, she is a Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photography, Director of The North American Nature...
