Love is in the air (Salix caprea) Honorable Mention
Title:Love is in the air (Salix caprea)
Pollen grains are tiny carriers of the male genome in plants. The pollen of the purple willow (Salix caprea) measures only 20-30µm in diameter. The image was produced using a scanning-electron-microscope and the resultant black-and-white scan was additionally post processed (colorized) to be finally enjoyed in full color.

His work is based on his scientific expertise and personally-executed preparation, electron-microscopy and post processing. His images are regularly published by the greatest names in science and photography, such as BBC, CELL, Nature, VOGUE, and National Geographic.
