A traditional West African dancer waits to perform at the Liberia National Peace and Cultural Festival in Monrovia. Through dance, poetry, music, theatre and traditional arts, the "Liberia National Peace and Cultural Festival" sees people from different cultural, linguistic and ethnic groups coming together to celebrate peace in a country that was torn apart by 14 years of conflict. Held in Monrovia, the festival attracted 50,000 people, including 375 artists and performers from all 15 counties of Liberia, and over 100 artists from Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Guinea.

Biography: Jonathan Banks studied under the prolific artist John Blakemore and graduated from the University of Derby with a 2:1 BA honours in Photographic studies in June 1993. He won the Jessops student of the year award and went on to gain sponsorship with Kodak where he produced several bodies of work for a touring exhibition. He has freelanced with all the broadsheets and many world class magazines and now is represented by Eyevine. His editorial and commercial photography has been published in various books, been widely exhibited and has picked up a number of international awards.
