Title:Control Room, Titan II ICBM The control room is part of a three-story steel-framed structure contained within in a buried concrete capsule and isolated from it by massive springs. First operational in 1963, it was manned by two officers and two enlisted personnel. Upon receiving the order to launch, and after following authentication procedures, the Commander and his Deputy turn keys in their separate switches. Within a minute the missile would be launched without the possibility of recall.
