Samsara 1st Place - Outstanding Achievement
Title:Samsara
The scene was taken in spring 2013 near Triveni Sangam, Allahabad. The image shows pilgrims and devotees of the Maha Kumbh Mela - the largest spiritual gathering on the planet, held every 12 years. Though every religion is welcomed, mainly Hindus crossing the rivers Ganga and Yamuna to reach the holy sangam for a cleansing dip. [Kumbh Mela, Allahabad, India]

Biography: As a persistent travel photographer my focus is on Oriental culture- and biodiversity, most recently vital animism, dogmas and rituals of the indigenous people of Indonesia. The project shall enrich cultural dialogues - crossing borders – in showing and sharing insights. Therefore it is also deeply in touch with unique ways of cultural expression and likes to contribute to their individual preservation.
