Honorable Mention Title:Timekeeper As an artist, I am captivated by the idea of bringing forgotten or underappreciated locales out of the shadows and into the limelight before they are lost forever. I am drawn toward untold stories and subjects that are looking for a voice and a champion. Since 2009 I have worked closely with national and state parks, non-profit organizations, and historical societies to raise awareness about the world around us. In partnering with these organizations, I have created unique images for them using my Painting with Light in the DarkŪ technique of digitally weaving together hundreds of individually exposed images into a single luminous composition. This image of a red mangrove, Timekeeper, was created for Biscayne National Park in Miami, FL and I can only hope that through my work, people will begin to realize that the fight for preservation is not one that ends when the sun sets. There is beauty in the world twenty-four hours a day and it deserves protection twenty-four hours a day as well.
