2nd Place - Merit of Excellence Title: Basked in Light When I entered this arena in Helena, Montana, I became very discouraged because of the poor lighting and grimy conditions. But when then doors opened to the west, I immediately saw an opportunity: I fixed my 300 on the light and waited for the action. Although my action shots of the rodeo were great, I feel the calm moment of the boy portrayed a mood not commonly shown in photography. And in fact, if ever you've been to a rodeo, these calm moments are more common than the 12 seconds of exhilaration.
