Four year-old Garifuna kid Didier Mejia at his family's apartment in the South Bronx. In the past decades, there has been a constant migration of Garifuna people from their home countries in Central America to the United States. In New York, there are approximately 100,000 people who identify as Garifuna, making this the largest concentration outside of Central America. Didi left Honduras 2 years ago and came to the Bronx with his mom and 5 siblings.
Biography:
Griselda San Martin is a documentary photographer and visual journalist based in New York City and Tijuana, Mexico. She studied Business Administration at Esade Business School in Barcelona and has an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder. In June 2015, she graduated from the the Photojournalism and Documentary photography program at the International Center of Photography in New York.
