Title: Sacred India My goal was to show the devotees- praying,singing and dancing, their faith & devotion. I climbed on the rooftop of a nearby building to show the vastness of area and the people at large. As soon as guru ji(deity of devotees) arrived, cheerful devotees from all around started chanting, praying, dancing and throwing turmeric powder(which is called as bhandara and is considered holy) towards him. The whole area was covered under thick clouds of turmeric powder. For some time, nothing was visible under the yellow clouds. All of a sudden, a strong wind blown away the yellow clouds in front of me and scene which appeared from underside was completely mystical and heavenly. I quickly clicked few images before this disappeared again, under the thick clouds of turmeric powder. I didn't get second chance to shoot this again. This image is meaningful for me because this shows intense faith & devotion of devotees in religion and their deity. Presence of yellow clouds of turmeric powder gives this a heavenly look and shows the true feelings of sacred India and its people. And this is what, i wanted to show. I used a tripod to compose my image precisely and to prevent hand shake, a small aperture to get good depth of field, fast shutter speed to freeze the action and motion of fast blowing wind heavily loaded with turmeric powder and also an umbrella to save myself from scorching heat because i took my position around 12 noon.
