Honorable Mention Title:Topographic #2 Topographics are monochromatic digital images of human form that have been have been transformed into abstracted, surreal images that play with the interaction between sensual perception of flesh and the two-dimensional graphic surface. This project originated around 2005. I was interested in reducing images of the human form to simple, flat, abstract, monochromatic graphics by applying topographic contour lines that define the sense of space of the subjects. I am interested in the scientific concept of representing 3D space on a 2D surface. The contour lines also present a tactile/visual interface that creates its own sensual experience.
