The tone was blue, I found myself climbing a large sand dune with no idea what was waiting for me there. Suddenly I stopped at the edge of the abyss ... I stood still ... the light coming from my left side made me turn my head and it was there in that instant, where I received the impression of a totally unexpected image: the birth of the dunes in that area of the desert.

It is my practice to be on the mountain at dawn to see what may be seen, and this moment of solitude soothes my soul, and gives me beauty to share with the world. The title is also significant because we in California are always afraid of wildfire. If the clouds are on fire, as they seem to be in this image, it is both safe and ominous, a reminder of ever-present danger, even in beauty.
