BAM_Endor-8: Mauna Kea Observatorium / Big Island / Hawaii / USA. ENDOR is Monn’s youngest project, named after the homonymous planet in Star Wars II, where several futuristic space platforms are installed in the woods. For the series Monn shoots abstract engineering buildings, which are placed in the landscape everywhere without any regards: radar-installations, wind farms, ski-jumps. He demonstrates the extreme incision of those functional buildings. The pictures seem created, but they’re not – the alarmingly contrast between landscape and architecture exists.

Biography: Right from the beginning, the focus of Benjamin A. Monn’s photographic work concentrates on the occupation with architectural photography. Monn knowingly defies the genre’s established aim - namely the documentation and identification of buildings – and works on a new definition of architectural photography. Since 2002 he is generating several groups of work parallel to each other. The photographer’s aim for the series A-SYMMETRIE is the accurate recording of every single building.
