Malaria Consortium is treating entire communities for the infectious eye disease trachoma, as part of the Neglected Tropical Disease Control Program. Trachoma is endemic in Unity State, spread primarily by flies and direct contact with infected hands or clothes. Left untreated, repeated trachoma infections result in permanent blindness.

Ascetic monks such as Aba Takelabe often live in seclusion, making their homes in caves away from the distractions of the modern world.

Title: Biwa Bermo As an elder of the Karo, Biwa is respected and well adorned as a warrior, carrying rows of scarification representing the enemies he killed in battle. Biwa even fought the Mursi, who are said to be some of the most fierce warriors in Africa, and threw them out of the land his tribe now occupies. There are only around 1000-1500 Karo, these are the only surviving keepers a language, culture and complex belief system. The Karo are the most endangered tribe of the Omo Valley.

Title: General Huy Major-General Nguyen Duc Huy was a sophisticated and optimstic person but inside him is a mysterious state of mind of old general.He was born in 1931, at Khoai Chau, Hung Yen province, former Major-General , power of Region commander 2 . Year of 1948 he joined army at the age of 17, changed many places where was garrisoned troops . Fought at division 320, division 304 in the war of resistance against the French , the anti-American resistance war, then was Division Commander of division 325 to fight for liberation of Laos South afterwards. In the book titled “Valleys Vests II- an oral history” by author William L. Adam (American), in interview of General Huy, the author kept word “Sophisticated” said about him. This image is in my project named “Portrait of 12 Generals” which was started in 2009 and will end in 2012.
