They live in small roaming bands and are mustered every second year to keep the herd numbers manageable and protect the native vegetation. Their isolation has led to a unique gene pool. There's definitely a feeling that a thousand eyes are watching you in the night jungle, and if you're lucky, you might spy one or two of these observers, but you definitely sense their presence. With a headlamp for light, I found this gorgeous snake curled around a tree that was inches from my head as I passed by.
