Thousands of devotees offer prayers along one of the busiest roads in Tongi, Bangladesh during the Ijtema on Jan. 22, 2010, bringing traffic to a standstill while scores of devotees are seen offering prayers from the rooftops of nearby buildings. The modern world meets the spiritual world in this image, which captures the power of religion in Asia's urban areas.
Biography:
Probal Rashid is a documentary photographer and photojournalist working in Bangladesh, represented by Zuma Press, USA. He has studied a Post Graduate Diploma in Photojournalism through a scholarship program of World Press Photo at the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism (ACFJ) at Ateneo De Manila University in the Philippines. He also holds an MBA.
