Tehran, Iran June 2009 - Women shout against the regime from a rooftop in Tehran. On june 12, 2009 the Iranian presidential elections were held, and the results were strongly contested by the population. Every night at 10, when streets are empty, cries of “death to the dictator” and “Allah u Akbar” (Allah is Great) echoed through Teheran: it’s the call of the dissidents against Ahmadinejad and the regime coming from the rooftops of their own home. A deeply simbolic act that recalled the shouts of “Allah u Akbar” to show opposition to the Monarchy at the time of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Photo Pietro Masturzo/Kairos Factory

Biography: Pietro Masturzo was born in 1980 in Naples. After the degree in International Relationship at the University of Naples, he moved to Rome to study Photography. He has been working as professional photographer since 2007 collaborating with different photojournalistic agencies and publishing his pictures on the most important Italian and foreign newspapers and magazines. His reportages are focused most of all on social-political issues with a view to the whole world and his attention is directed on human stories, even when covering the major news events.
