As many as 200,000 people died on January 12 as a consequence of the 7.0-magnitude earthquake. At least 130 people have been pulled alive from the rubble. An estimated 1.5 million people have been left homeless. The Haitian government is planning to relocate some 400,000 people, currently in makeshift camps across the capital, to temporary tent villages outside the city. Aid agencies are still struggling to supply food and water to survivors, while thousands of Haitians who suffered serious injuries remain in need of urgent medical attention.
