Kaimanawa Stallions
Title:Kaimanawa Stallions
The Kaimanawa Wild Horse is New Zealand’s very own Heritage Horse living wild in the central North Island. They live in small roaming bands and are mustered every second year to keep the herd numbers manageable and protect the native vegetation. Their isolation has led to a unique gene pool. This photo of two stallions was taken during the 2010 muster in the Argo Valley, Waiouru.

Biography: I'm a Wedding and Portrait photographer living in Tuakau, NZ. When I'm not photographing people I enjoy animals and micro landscapes.I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to photograph the wild horse muster in Waiouru, central New Zealand, where we have bands of our very own unique wild horses roaming. The biannual muster helps to keep the numbers down so that both the horses and native vegetation can thrive.
